Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player won his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid season, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-time mentor Cervara.

Now training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's first championship since the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt after that period of 2023.

The win also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one titles at 21 various tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and recurring reactions on the tennis court had led observers to wonder if his skill to play at the top level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and play aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

He recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial professional title, took control to create a decider.

The opponent saved four early-game break points in a tight final set before the champion won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched victory with a shot at the net area, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
